Navami Maa Siddhidatri Navratri Paran Vijay Dashami
Maa Siddhidatri is the ninth manifestation of Goddess Durga and is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri as per the Indian calendar. The goddess’s name is derived from siddhi (supernatural powers) and dhatri (giver) and she is said to bestow all kinds of knowledge upon her worshippers.
It is said that Lord Shiva received all his siddhis from Maa Siddhidatri, who possesses eight Siddhis, namely anima (reducing oneself to the size of an atom), mahima (becoming infinitely large), prapti (omnipresence), prakamya (achieving anything one desires), garima (becoming infinitely heavy), laghima (weightlessness), ishitva (absolute lordship) and vashitva (power to subjugate all). According to mythology, the feminine half of Shiva in the Ardhanareshwar form is that of Goddess Siddhidatri.
